If you have, that is most likely an investor trying to get you to lease his property with an option to buy. That is a good thing for you if you are a first time home buyer. Or if you just do not have a large down payment to pay upfront. Or if you do not have an exellant credit record for a mortgage.
If you do have the down payment, and the credit record rent to own is still good. It gives you the oppertunity to try on the house to see if it is going to fit. And you can try out the neighborhood to see if you realy want to be there. That way if in a year or two you do not like the house or you have the neighbor from hell next door, you have an out, just do not exercise your option to by. Do not worry about upsetting the investor. Usally the investor doesn't mind because he can lease option to someonelse. Rent to own is good for everybody.
